Gerding Edlen Los Angeles Office
Certified LEED Silver
The 2,750 square foot space is located on the 26th floor of a high-rise in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Brightworks Sustainability Advisors led the project team through the LEED effort with a strategy based on integrated design, energy savings, encouraging commuter options, healthy finishes and an abundant selection of reused and reclaimed materials.
The office design provides employees with daylighting, views of the outdoors and efficient lighting controls that respond to the plentiful daylight available and turn off when unnecessary, resulting in substantial energy savings. The interior paneling showcases lush old redwood wine barrel staves, and the wood flooring features salvaged loading dock timbers. The centrally-located building provides excellent public transportation options to employees, and Gerding Edlen implemented an aggressive transportation management plan with incentives to encourage employees to commute by foot, bicycle or energy-efficient vehicle. The construction team recycled 27 tons of the waste generated during construction, a reduction of over 95%.
